OOTD: There's Always a First Time

Friday, September 22, 2017
Hello! This is my very first so I don't know what to expect. I just wanted to try and incorporate my style somehow in this blog. I'm no fashionista nor a model, but I thought this might be fun. So please excuse this photo.
I really like buying clothes from thrift shops or in local term, 'ukay-ukay'. Yes, probably 80% of my clothes are bought from there. It's hard to go ukay-ukay shopping, since you basically have to dig from a mountain of clothes (most of which are crap) just to find the good ones. But it is all worth it especially when you stumble upon great finds for a very very cheap price.

My top is an example of those great finds. I found it at an ukay-ukay pile priced at P25.00 and didn't hesitate to buy it right away. It is just my style and it is totally me. I think it makes me look powerful and classy. Plus, it's not tight so it doesn't show my belly fat (HAHA!). This one is definitely for keeps. It took awhile for me to find the right time to wear it though. With the weather here in the Philippines, I couldn't imagine wearing it out in the hot sun. It'd be too warm. Finally had the chance to wear it one cold rainy day. I just paired it up with my trusty black skirt and then it was church ready.

I would recommend you go and check out thrift shops, you just might find something that's totally a perfect fit for you.

P.S. I do hope to get better at this.

Have you tried shopping for thrifted items before? Did you find anything nice?

  1. Same here. I never mind buying in thrift stalls.. For one, it is branded for a very cheap, way affordable price. Second, since it's branded, it means quality material. Third, you don't have to worry that you can come across with someone who wears the same clothing as you wear it. diba?

  2. Of the few times I tried thrift shops, I was able to score some nice branded bags :) But on clothes, medyo wala pa.

I hope you don't mind but you look like Coleen Garcia in this photo :)

  4. I like ukay-ukay shopping too! Except that it's kinda hard to make ukay in my city because good thrift stalls in my city are usually in the downtown area - and I'm scared of going downtown coz a lot of pickpockets frequent the area. Anyways, your top is super cute! 😍

  8. I love your outfit! Not only is it appropriate for church but also for a job interview.

I'm not much of a fashionista either. Most of my day to day outfits consists of jeans and a t-shirt.

But I love going to thrift stores because you can always find something good.

  9. Believe it or not, when I was plus size I actually found a store on e-bay that sold plus size clothing. Some times, the owner of the store would throw in a buy 1 get 1 free deal for me as I was her most favorite customer. Of course, as the years passed I started slimming down some and haven't purchased anything from there. But, I do love a good deal when I see it. Especially when a friend of mine tells me about a good deal. For instance, my best friend/sister had told me of a deal that Family Dollar was holding when I was living at my apartment. I went there and gave up food money to buy clothes with. It was a hard decision, but the owners of the stores knows me (well, that store any way) so it was a pretty good deal I had there. I thought about doing OOTD or Fashion Friday, but I was more into the cosmetics section about that time. Plus, I wear the same things over and over again. So, not much of an OOTD or Fashion Friday, right? Haha.

However, I do like this look on you! It fits you beautifully!

  12. I think you look great! Digging your style actually. You look really chiq and comfy at the same time. I miss Ukay-Ukay shopping in the Philippines. I remember my cousins dragging me to Ukay places in Manila haha. We have some stores here run by Pinoys but you know what they say "It's more fun in the Philippines!" plus I had always managed to find awesome deals there. The "Ukay's" here are mostly overruns and they aren't second hand so kahit na Ukay ang datingan nila, mahal padin ang benta nila. Hope you do more OOTD posts!

  13. I love thrift shopping - we have a place where I live where you can get free clothes, and it's similar in a way. You have to be patient and dig through the clothes, but you can get some awesome things. Your outfit looks very adorable - that top would look cute with a pair of black skinny jeans as well, and a pair of cute wedges. I think my favorite part of the top is that you don't have to necessarily wear much jewelry with it.

  15. I find some of the most unique pieces of clothing in thrift shops. I usually go to the jacket and coat sections because those interest me the most!
